SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A suspect was arrested Saturday in connection with a hit-and-run that left a 73-year-old man dead, according to the California Highway Patrol.
William Nathanial Beasley, 70, was taken into custody and charged with manslaughter and felony hit-and-run. Beasley, of Antelope, is being held at the Sacramento County Jail.
On Oct. 1, William and Deborah Hester were crossing the street near the intersection of Palm Street and Arnold Avenue to get to a dental appointment when a full-size pickup barreled toward them, CHP said. William pushed his wife out of the way before the pickup slammed into him. He was pronounced dead on the scene. His wife did not suffer any injuries.
A silver 2006 Toyota Tacoma with right front, right side damage was also seized by authorities, according to CHP..
While two recall efforts may sound like a serious threat, California’s political history indicates that Gov. Newsom has little reason to worry - at least for now.
