Teen detonated firework under unmarked Sacramento County Sheriff's Office vehicle, deputies say

It happened as deputies were responding to reports of a group of teens throwing Molotov cocktails and mortars into oncoming traffic in Antelope.

ANTELOPE, California — Several teens were detained Thursday night after they allegedly threw Molotov cocktails and mortars at oncoming traffic in Antelope.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, it happened in a neighborhood near Heartland Drive and Tetotom Park Way.

Deputies say the teens were setting off aerial fireworks and throwing mortars at oncoming traffic.

Upon arrival, the teens tried to run away. Several were detained and one was arrested for having a gun. 

The sheriff’s office says one of the suspects detonated a mortar under an unmarked sheriff’s vehicle that responded to the call, causing damage.

The deputy was not injured.
