Thief steals jewelry after driving pickup truck into JCPenney in Citrus Heights

Shipping and receiving employees were reportedly in the store at the time of the incident.

CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. — A thief stole jewelry from a JCPenney in Citrus Heights after driving a stolen pickup truck through the store, police said.

According to Citrus Heights Police Department, the crime was reported around 7:45 a.m. at Sunrise Mall.

Officers arrived, but by the time they got there, they weren't able to find anyone. 

Police said the suspect is believed to have stolen a Black Chevrolet Silverado from the Roseville Auto Mall either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning and driven it through the store to the jewelry section. The suspect took jewelry and drove away.

Police said the pickup was later found abandoned south of Citrus Heights and is in their possession.

Shipping and receiving employees were reportedly in the store at the time of the incident.
