TRACY, Calif. — A wanted man was put behind bars after he allegedly tried to ram a police car in Tracy.

According to the Tracy Police Department, officers tried to do a traffic stop on a silver BMW on Feb. 2 for suspected DUI and speeding just before 10:30 p.m. However, police said the car rammed a patrol car and took off, leading officers on a chase into the area of Schulte Road and Chrisman Road.

The suspect lost control of the car, went off the road and got stuck in an orchard. He then took off, running through the orchard.

Eventually, police used a taser to bring him into custody after chasing after him. Police said they also found a loaded gun in his car.

The suspect was identified as Fernando David Perez, 33 of Tracy. He was arrested and booked into the county jail on the homicide warrant and on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, evading an officer, DUI and gun-related charges.

No officers were hurt during the incident.
