Two girls found dead along Oakdale river trail in double suicide

OAKDALE, Calif. — Update:

Oakdale Police Department investigators are now calling the deaths of two females found near a river trail Saturday morning a "tragic double suicide."

The victims, ages 15  and 17, are believed to have died from small caliber gunshot wounds, according to a preliminary investigation by the department.   

The  details  and  evidence  collected  during  the  preliminary  investigation  remain  under review at this time.

Two women were found dead along a river trail in Oakdale Saturday morning, according to authorities.

In a post on the Oakdale Police Department's Facebook page, around 10 a.m. Saturday, April 11, the department received a call for a person with a gunshot wound near Hollenbeck Court. 

Upon arrival, officers found two women dead. An investigation is still underway.
