2 children sent to hospital after hit-and-run with jet ski at Woodward Reservoir

Officials said one child was seven years old and the other was nine years old.

OAKDALE, Calif. — Two children were sent to the hospital after they were hit by a jet ski at Woodward Reservoir Saturday afternoon, officials said.

According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office, the incident was reported around 2:30 p.m. near the Bay View Boat Ramp. 

The sheriff's office said one of the victims was seven years old and the other was nine years old. Both were taken to the hospital for medical treatment. A sheriff's spokesperson said the seven-year-old had fractured orbitals and leg abrasions. No information was available on the condition of the nine-year-old, but officials said they were both kept for a day for observation before being released. The sheriff's office previously said the children were nine and eleven years old, but have updated their ages.

The person responsible was arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run. Deputies said no alcohol was involved in the jet ski incident.
