WALNUT GROVE, Calif. — A woman died after driving the wrong way along Interstate 5 and crashing head-on into another car, the California Highway Patrol said.

CHP got reports of a wrong-way driver along I-5, south of Walnut Grove Road near Thornton, around 4:40 p.m. They then got a report of a head-on collision nearby.

CHP spokesperson Officer Angel Arseo said a woman driving a Ford F-150 on northbound I-5 crossed the center divider onto southbound I-5 and hit a big rig. The impact caused her to then hit a maroon F-150 head-on.

The woman died, but the driver of the maroon F-150 had major but non-life-threatening injuries. The big rig driver had minor injuries.

It's not clear if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
