YUBA CITY, Calif. — The Yuba City Police Department is investigating after a man allegedly killed a woman and shot another man inside an apartment complex before fatally shooting himself.

According to police, officers responded to an apartment complex near Northgate Drive and Onstott Road around 1:56 a.m. Saturday after reports came in that gunshots were fired.

At the complex, officers say they discovered a 34-year-old woman who died from undetermined injuries and a 21-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers found the suspected shooter, a 36-year-old man, inside a nearby car. Authorities say he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Detectives believe the suspected shooter and the woman were in a previous dating relationship. They have not disclosed how or if the 21-year-old man is related to the two.

"Her death is being investigated as a homicide with in what appears to be a tragic case of domestic violence, not a random act of violence and there are no threats to the public," the Yuba City Police Department said in a press release. "Detectives from the Yuba City Police Department and the Department of Justice responded to that location and are currently investigating the incident. The exact nature of what occurred is still under investigation."
