SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Zanzibar Fair Trade store representatives in Midtown Sacramento say they are grateful to Sacramento police for arresting a man suspected of stealing $100,000 worth of goods from them.
The shop, which deals in antique items and artifacts, was hit with a burglary Oct. 1, where the suspect also caused $7,000 in property damage.
According to Sacramento Police Department, 50-year-old Robert Price was quickly identified as a suspect in the burglary, though during their investigation, Price was arrested by Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies on unrelated charges.
Police officers traveled to the Sacramento County Jail and collected stolen items from Price that belonged to the store. He was charged with burglary, possession of stolen property and vandalism in the Zanzibar Fair Trade case.
Representatives of the store responded to the recent arrest on social media, writing that though only about 10% of their property was recovered, they are happy with the progression of the criminal case.
