DALLAS — Walmart announced Thursday that DFW-area locations are introducing specialized shopping carts dubbed "Caroline's Carts," which are designed to help caregivers of children and adults with disabilities easily navigate stores.

This multimillion-dollar initiative by Walmart is being conducted with the goal of making shopping at its stores more inclusive.

Caroline's Carts, which have seats designed to hold 35 to 250 pounds, will be present in all Supercenters nationwide. This includes two in each Supercenter and at least one in each Neighborhood Market, which will add up to around 8,000 carts.

“Helping our customers save money and live better is more than our mission – it’s our driving force,” Executive Vice President of Store Operations at Walmart Cedric Clark said in a press release. “Equipping our stores with Caroline’s Carts provides some relief to parents and caregivers who need this tool and know it’s available at their Walmart. Whether they’re caring for someone with a disability or a temporary injury, the carts support our customers when and how they need it every time they come through our doors.”

According to Walmart, distribution of these carts has already begun and all stores should have them by early 2025.
