FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Eastbound lanes of the Interstate 80 near Air Base Parkway are open again following a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Fairfield on Thursday morning.

According to the CHP Solano Area Twitter page, the person "ran into traffic and in front of a vehicle." They died at the scene.

The Fairfield Police Department also warned drivers about the crash, saying that surface streets such as Air Base Parkway, North Texas Street, and Travis Boulevard were impacted due to traffic runoff from the Interstate 80.

The crash is under investigation. At this time, DUI is not a suspected factor.
