SACRAMENTO - Four years after real estate magnate Michael Lyon was put on probation for secretly recording sex acts with prostitutes, he was arraigned on new charges that he's done it again.
Lyon, 59, appeared Friday in a ground floor courtroom at the Sacramento County Jail where he's been held upstairs without bail since a probation search of his rented home in Arden Park last fall turned up methamphetamine and morphine.
According to the new criminal complaint, the search also led to evidence that Lyon had secretly recorded eight more women.
Lyon's attorney, William Portanova, said all eight women were prostitutes.
"I believe in this guy, but there's something going on with him," Portanova said. "We're going to sort it out and fix it."
Lyon pleaded not guilty to the 16 new felony charges and will be allowed to post $285,000 bail on the electronic eavesdropping and drug charges after April 2 when he's done serving time for the probation violation.
As a condition of bail, the judge ordered Lyon to surrender his passport and stay away from cameras.
