CHICO, Calif. — Two more cases of measles have popped up in California, this time in two adults in Butte County.
The two adults who were diagnosed with the virus did not have a history of vaccination, according to the Butte County Public Health.
Although health officials say both people have passed the infectious period and can no longer spread the virus to others, they are still urging county residents to monitor their symptoms.
According to the county health department, both cases are believed to be linked to a case in Shasta County and are said to be a part of a “cluster.”
Health officials have also identified a possible location in Chico where the public could have been exposed to the illness. That location is The Esplanade House located at 181 E. Shasta Avenue in Chico. The potential exposure period was between March 15 – 19. If you visited The Esplanade House during this time, you are asked to call 530-353-5564.
Officials are still looking into the measles cases in Butte County and say they may identify other potential public exposure locations in the future.
Symptoms for measles include fever, runny nose, cough, red eyes, and sore throat followed by a rash that spreads over the body, according to information from the CDC.
