SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sac State Head Baseball Coach Reggie Christiansen agreed to a 7-year contract extension to remain with the Hornets through 2026.
"We are excited to be a part of this for a long time," said Christiansen about the agreement.
Christiansen first started as an assistant coach with the Hornets in 2009 and was promoted to head coach in 2011. As head coach, Christiansen has an overall record of 294-250 and a Western Athletic Conference (WAC) record of 132-95.
His extension with the Hornets comes on the heels of an exciting 2019 season in which he coached Sac State to a 40-25 record and a WAC Conference title. The Hornets went on to earn a berth in the Regional tournament where they upset #19 UC Santa Barbara before being eliminated by #4 Stanford on June 2.
"Every year the goal has been to win the conference and advance to a Regional," added Christiansen. "We've proven we can do that. We've been to a Regional three times now and I want to see us continue to move this thing forward."
Sac State is the only Division I baseball team in the state of California to win at least 30 games every season over the past eight years, according to the university.
