SACRAMENTO -- A new interchange at INTERSTATE 5 and Cosumnes River Boulevard in south Sacramento opened early Monday.
This was a convenience for commuters in the area, and a milestone for a new community in the works.
The interchange is about one mile south of Meadowview Road. City officials said it is a public-private partnership between the City of Sacramento and the Delta Shores developers in South Sacramento. The area will provide access to the shopping center and community developers continue to work toward.
A three and a half-mile roadway extension between Franklin and Freeport boulevards remained under construction. That is set to open in the fall.
Drivers can get on and exit I-5 through the new interchange at Freeport Boulevard, but they can't head east along the next extension just yet.
