$150K reward offered after 2 Stockton postal workers attacked, robbed

The two robberies happened minutes apart from each other on August 27.

STOCKTON, Calif. — A $150,000 reward is now up for grabs if you have information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s) who attacked and robbed two postal workers in Stockton.

"We've upped our reward amounts recently because we wanted to reflect the importance of taking care of our employees and the safety of the postal employees. So, I will stress that it is up to 100 and $50,00, and this is for information specific to the suspects involved in the crime and specific to information that will lead to the arrest and the conviction of the suspects," said Jonathan Lanning, postal inspector for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS).

A photo released Thursday by USPIS shows a person leaving the scene in a white GMC Yukon.

The two robberies happened minutes apart from each other on Aug. 27.

The first robbery happened around 4:40 p.m. on Center Street and Mendocino Avenue.

Police said the 43-year-old victim was working when the suspect walked up to him, demanded items and threatened to kill him. The victim refused and was punched, at which time the victim turned over the items and the suspect got into a vehicle waiting nearby.

The second robbery happened around 4:45 p.m. on Bonnie Lane and Monterey Avenue.

Police said the 55-year-old victim was working when the suspect walked up to him and demanded items. The two started fighting before the suspect took the victim’s items and left the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Their postal keys were taken, that may have been the focus of these robberies but the main concern that we have is that they were both assaulted and robbed within about 15-20 minutes of each other," said Postal Inspector Jeff Fitch.

Lanning is hoping people have their eyes and ears at the ready across the area. He said that while the robbery happened in Stockton, USPIS knows that some suspects are known to travel up and down the valley and into the Bay Area.
