Grandmother accidentally hits, kills 16-month-old with car in Nevada County, CHP says

The 16-month-old, Ross Grenon, walked in front of the car without the grandmother seeing and was hit, CHP says.

GRASS VALLEY, Calif. — A 16-month-old child was hit and killed by a car as it was pulling out of a Nevada County driveway Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP says the crash happened around 7:10 a.m. in the area of Gilham Court near Wolf Mountain Road. CHP says a 66-year-old Loomis woman was leaving her family home when three of her grandchildren "ran to vehicle to say their farewell greetings for the day." 

The 16-month-old, Ross Grenon, walked in front of the car without his grandmother seeing and was hit, CHP says.

Grenon was airlifted to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

CHP is investigating the crash and says there is no suspicion of alcohol or drug use connected to the crash. No other information is available at this time.
