SALIDA, Calif. — Two people were found dead inside a Honda Sunday near Salida in what officials believe is the result of a domestic violence situation.
According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened around 6 p.m. Sunday when officers were called about a possible assault with a deadly weapon on the northbound Hammett Road offramp from Highway 99.
Upon arrival, officers found a Honda sedan parked on the east shoulder of the offramp. A dead man and woman were inside. They have not been identified yet.
The offramp was closed as officers investigated. CHP says its investigation found the deaths may have resulted from an earlier domestic violence situation.
CHP says there is no threat to the public. Anyone with information can call the nonemergency numbers at 209-356-2900.
