2 hurt, including officer, after crash in Tracy

Police said both the officer and the other driver had non-life-threatening injuries.

TRACY, Calif. — A Tracy police officer was hospitalized Sunday after an on-duty crash, according to the Tracy Police Department.

A news release from the department says it happened while officers were responding to a report of a stolen vehicle around Corral Hollow Road and Grant Line Road just after 6 a.m.

Police say the unidentified officer was driving a marked patrol SUV south on Corral Hollow Road when the driver of a Toyota ran a red light and crashed into the patrol vehicle.

The officer was not driving with emergency lights or sirens on, and was driving the speed limit at the time of the collision.

The driver of the Toyota was extricated from her vehicle and taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. The officer was also taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information can call the Tracy Police Department at 209-831-6657.
