RANCHO MURIETA, Calif. — Three people are in the hospital after an accident near Rancho Murieta Wednesday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 8:30 p.m. along Scott Road, north of Latrobe Road.
A man was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on Scott Road with two women passengers in the car. One woman was wearing a seatbelt in the front seat and the other was in the backseat without a seat belt.
CHP said the driver was going at an unsafe speed, lost control of the car, veered off the roadway and hit a tree.
The woman in the backseat had major injuries and was flown to a hospital. The driver and woman in the front seat had moderate injuries and were also taken to a hospital.
It's not clear if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
