More than 50 registered sex offenders were arrested over the Halloween weekend during compliance checks as part of 'Operation Boo' project. Parole agents with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation checked on more than 1,200 sex-offender parolees in the state.
Of those arrested, 52 were found to be in violation of the conditions of their parole. New charges were filed against four of them, pornography was confiscated from 16 parolees, seven had narcotics on them or at their home and five were caught with weapons. In total, 56 sex-offender parolees were arrested Halloween night.
This year, 'Operation Boo' included a free downloadable brochure, which included information for parents about keeping children safe year round. The Megan's Law website shows where sex offenders live, as part of their registered status with the state.
