6 people displaced, person arrested after suspected arson in Turlock

The call originally came in as a vehicle fire on Colorado Avenue Sunday night

TURLOCK, Calif. — Six people are displaced after a Sunday night fire at a duplex in Turlock.

According to the Turlock Police Department, the fire happened on the 1100 block of Colorado Avenue.

The Turlock Fire Department says the call first came in as a vehicle fire but it was upgraded to a potential structure fire while crews were en route.

Upon arrival, fire crews found five vehicles and a carport on fire with the flames spreading to a single-story duplex.

The fire department says eight vehicles, one carport and both residences in the duplex were damaged. A total of six people were displaced by the fire.

No one was injured in the blaze. The cause of the fire was found to be arson and a 32-year-old man, Santiago Astorga Ojeda, was arrested.
