MODESTO, Calif. — Nine people are displaced after an early morning fire in Modesto Friday.
According to the Modesto Fire Department, it happened around 5:15 a.m. near Virginia Corridor Trail.
The fire department says a fire engine arrived to find a home under construction on fire. The blaze was spreading to three occupied homes nearby, including a triplex.
The home under construction was destroyed and the three other houses were deemed uninhabitable.
Two people were treated at the scene but declined to go to the hospital. A total of nine people were displaced.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and the estimated loss is around $1.4 million.
