CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. — A Citrus Heights man accused of rioting at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 has now been indicted for receiving child sexual abuse imagery.
Justice Department officials say 36-year-old Kyle Travis Colton received child sexual abuse imagery between July 2022 and December 2023. He could face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, if convicted.
The accusations come after Colton was arrested in Folsom in December on separate charges related to the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
FBI officials say they identified Colton though a tip from a Delta Airlines flight passenger who sat next to Colton on Jan. 7 as he bragged about being part of the "second wave" of protesters in the U.S. Capitol Building the day before.
He was re-arrested Friday on child sexual abuse imagery charges and booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail with no bail, according to county sheriff booking records.
