FAIRFIELD, Calif. — One person was killed and several others were injured Wednesday after a car was hit by an Amtrak train.
According to the Fairfield Fire Department, it happened around 8:30 a.m. at E. Tabor and Railroad Avenue.
They say the train was going east when it hit a vehicle, causing major damage. The first vehicle then hit a second vehicle, also causing major damage to that vehicle.
“Multiple” people were taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from moderate to major and one person died.
The road is still closed between Tolenas and Clay Bank, and Railroad Avenue is closed from Suisun. Drivers should find an alternate route, if possible.
This is a developing story and will be updated as we learn more.
