Man arrested on suspicion of DUI after deadly crash in Antelope

The California Highway Patrol said the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — An 18-year-old man died after a crash Monday in Antelope near the border of Sacramento County and Placer County.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 6:35 p.m. along Walerga Road, north of Antelope Road. An 18-year-old man was driving the vehicle and another 18-year-old man was in the passenger seat.

The driver of a white BMW sedan changed lanes while approaching a slight curve in the road, lost control of the vehicle and hit a light pole along Walerga Road. The passenger died. 

The California Highway Patrol said the driver was under the influence of alcohol and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The driver's and passenger's identities haven't been released and their relationship is unclear. The crash is under investigation.
