LINCOLN, Calif. — Here are the events happening in Lincoln for the Fourth of July.
Lincoln 4th of July Celebration
The celebration features several events throughout the day. Most of the events are at McBean Park.
Schedule
- 7- 10 a.m. Pancake breakfast at Lincoln's Veteran Hall (12+ is $12, 11 and under is $7)
- 9 a.m. Hometown Parade at 5th and B streets (people are advised to arrive early)
- 12 p.m. 11th Annual John hofman Memorial Horsehoe Tournamnet (11a.m. check in)
- 12 -5 p.m. McBean Pool opens to the public (Adults $5, 4-17 $3, 3 and under are free)
- 2 - 9 p.m. Food trucks and vendors open
- 3 - 7:30 p.m. Free kids zone, mechanical bull and inflatables at the McBean Park grassy area
- 3 - 9:30 p.m. Music and dancing at the McBean Park Gazebo
- 6:05 p.m. is first pitch for the Lincoln Potters Baseball Games vs. West Coast Kings at McBean Stadium
- 9:30 - 10 p.m. Fireworks immediately following the baseball game
Placer County Firework Regulations
All fireworks are illegal in unincorporated Placer County, including the Lake Tahoe Basin. There are professionally organized fireworks shows in various cities in Placer County.
This applies to:
- Rural areas not located within the boundaries of Roseville, Rocklin and Lincoln.
- The town of Loomis and the city of Auburn.
- Unincorporated communities such as Penryn, Newcastle, North Auburn, Granite Bay, Meadow Vista, Foresthill, Tahoe City and Kings Beach.
Anyone caught violating the fireworks ban could be charged with a misdemeanor and face a fine of up to $2,000 per violation. People in Roseville, Rocklin and Lincoln can check with local rules.
Fourth of July fireworks safety
If you choose to celebrate Independence Day at home and bypass the parades and public events, you should read up on any ordinances in your city or county before buying any fireworks. Fireworks are illegal in certain areas of the state due to serious injuries and millions in property loss from fireworks-sparked wildfires.
According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, an average of 18,000 fires are started every year by fireworks, both illegal ones and “safe and sane” fireworks” used improperly.
To celebrate the Fourth of July safely, the Office of the State Fire Marshal says you should only use fireworks outdoors, and never near dry grass or other flammable materials. It’s also recommended to keep a bucket of water and a hose nearby when using fireworks.
Regardless of where you go in California, using fireworks that explode, leave the ground or move about the ground uncontrollably is illegal. These fireworks include skyrockets, bottle rockets and Roman candles. Anyone caught with illegal fireworks could face fines or even arrest.
All legal fireworks include the “Safe and Sane” logo from the California State Fire Marshal on them. If you are not sure if your fireworks are legal, you can contact your nearest Cal Fire facility or local fire station.
