Bicyclist dies after being hit in Placer County

The California Highway Patrol said the bicyclist was wearing all dark clothing and had stopped or was moving slowly in the center of the road.

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — A bicyclist died after being hit by a truck in Placer County Thursday.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened between 1 and 2 a.m. along Highway 174 near Hill Drive. It's by The Red Frog, a restaurant and bar in Colfax.

A spokesperson for California Highway Patrol said the bicyclist was wearing all dark clothing and had stopped or was moving slowly in the center of the road. The driver of the truck didn't see the bicyclist and stayed at the scene after the crash, according to CHP.

The bicyclist was taken to a hospital where they died. The person's identity hasn't been released.

The crash is under investigation and CHP said that drugs or alcohol are not a factor in the crash.
