Authorities thought they were responding to an attempted suicide, but instead found a group of BASE jumpers on the Foresthill Bridge.

Three men were arrested over the weekend for allegedly BASE jumping from the Foresthill Bridge in Placer County.

Authorities arrested 30-year-old Christopher Peterson, 29-year-old Michal King and 27-year-old Christopher Ludlow, each for trespassing and resisting arrest, for the incident, which occurred Sunday night.

According to the report, deputies were called to the bridge after a witness reported that a suicidal woman was outside the railing of the bridge. Deputies responded to the bridge along with state park rangers, who searched below, but found no sign of the woman. Instead they found a group of people jumping from the bridge with parachutes!

Peterson, King and Ludlow all parachuted down where rangers were already searching. The men tried to run but were quickly detained by the rangers, the report stated. All three were booked into the Placer County Jail for the, misdemeanor complaints.

An unknown number of other jumpers managed to elude officers.
