Bicyclist killed in Christmas Day crash with suspected DUI driver in Natomas

The crash was initially reported as a single-car accident but officers found a bicyclist was also involved, and they died at the scene.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A bicyclist was killed early Christmas morning in a crash with a suspected DUI driver in Sacramento.

The Sacramento Police Department says it happened around 12:45 a.m. Monday near E. Commerce Way and N. Park Drive in Natomas.

The crash was initially reported as a single-car accident but officers found a bicyclist was also involved.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver was taken to the hospital with injuries.

Police say DUI is believed to be a factor in the crash. The driver was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on Dec. 28 on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI-related charges, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The identity of the bicyclist has not been released yet.
