NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif. — A dead body was found inside a trash processing facility in North Highlands Friday night, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said the body of a man was found at the facility on 4741 Watt Avenue near the Sacramento McClellan Airport and appeared to be transported there via garbage truck.
Law enforcement responded to the area after receiving reports around 6 p.m. of a dead body showing up on a conveyor belt as trash was being sorted. Sgt. Amar Gandhi said production stopped and all employees were evacuated from the facility.
Investigators showed up to the scene, but Gandhi adds there doesn't appear to be any criminal element and is not being seen as suspicious or as a homicide.
The identify of the man is unknown, as the body has been taken by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.
