Woman mauled to death by dogs in Butte County, deputies say

Deputies are investigating the death of a 56-year-old woman from Feather Falls. They captured 23 Great Danes from a nearby home and are looking for two more.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif — The Butte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman was mauled to death by dogs.

The investigation started Thursday when someone called deputies and said he found a dead person on Blackhawk Trail.  She was identified as 56-year-old Davina Corbin of Feather Falls.

An autopsy found multiple bite marks and injuries on her victim’s body consistent with domestic dogs.

Deputies obtained a search warrant and investigated a house near where Corbin was found. According to sheriff's office, detectives found approximately 25 Great Danes loose on the property.

Detectives captured 23 dogs and turned them over to Butte County Animal Control. Investigators are still searching for two more dogs.

According to the sheriff's office, the lab is doing additional testing to determine which specific dog attacked Corbin.
