BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. — Firefighters were injured after a fire engine flipped over in Butte County, Wednesday.
In a now-deleted social media post, the California Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. along Aguas Frias Road, north of Richvale Highway. A Cal Fire engine was involved in the crash. Butte County Fire Department said there were four injuries sustained en route to the fire. That was updated later in the evening to reflect that three firefighters were hurt in the Oroville crash.
Three firefighters were able to get out of the fire engine. The injuries were minor to moderate, but the fire department said they're still gathering all the fact regarding the injuries. The injured firefighters were taken to a hospital.
Aguas Frias Road was closed between Richvale Highway and Nelson Road as of 9 a.m. while the Cal Fire engine was recovered.
It's unclear why the crash happened and it's under investigation.
