A new wildfire that flared up in Sutter County, Tuesday evening, is now mostly contained.
Officials say the Butte Fire, located near West Butte Road and Pass Road, is now 90 percent contained, and the few residents who were evacuated are being allowed to return home. It is estimated to have burned more than 1,200 acres of land.
The fire burned toward some radio towers in the Sutter Buttes. Crews from Colusa, Yuba, Sutter County, and CAL FIRE all responded to the scene. Air drops were also conducted.
No injuries have been reported and a cause for the fire has not yet been determined.
