ARNOLD, Calif. — A Calaveras County man on active probation was arrested last week after he reportedly kicked a person’s door in while holding a rifle.
According to the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, it happened Friday, May 24 around 7:30 p.m. at a home on Ponderosa Road in Arnold.
The sheriff’s office says it all began when 47-year-old Michael Saunders entered a friend’s home without permission through an unlocked door. The victim told Saunders he wasn’t happy about him doing that and Saunders then allegedly punched his friend before leaving.
Investigators say Saunders returned with a rifle but found the door locked. He kicked the door off its front hinges to enter and told a second person inside he would harm them if they called police.
Saunders eventually left the home and was detained by deputies. The sheriff’s office says he was on active probation and is now facing charges of felony vandalism, criminal threats and burglary. His probation was also revoked.
