SAN ANDREAS, Calif. — A San Andreas man is in custody after he allegedly attacked a man last month and then ran away from deputies.
According to the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation started June 22 when deputies responded to Main Street in San Andreas.
Upon arrival, deputies found a man with a head injury who said he was involved in a fight. He told deputies two men attacked him — one used pepper spray and both kicked him.
Deputies identified one of the suspects as 34-year-old Jeremy Lovell. They later responded to an unrelated incident at Lovell’s house on July 9 and upon arrival were told Lovell had left the area. He was later found inside a trailer on the property.
The sheriff’s office says Lovell didn’t comply with deputies and tried to get a butcher’s knife. He was ultimately taken into custody.
He was booked on suspicion of assault with serious bodily injury and resisting a peace officer.
