CALAVERAS COUNTY, Calif. — A man was arrested in Calaveras County after he allegedly admitted to shooting his shotgun over the head of someone riding their four-wheeler on his property.

The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office says someone was riding their four-wheeler near the 4000 block of Jewell Court in Wilseyville, and they thought they were on a publicly-accessible dirt road.

The victim told deputies he heard a shotgun blast, stopped and saw 62-year-old Kirk J. Rubottom pointing a gun at him. He got off the four-wheeler, raised his hands and asked the Rubottom not to shoot.

Deputies say Rubottom began yelling at the rider, stating he owned the property and demanding him to leave. The rider said he heard two more shotgun blasts as he drove off.

Deputies say they arrested Rubottom after he admitted to shooting his shotgun about the rider's head as he drove away.

The 62-year-old was taken to jail on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon.
