California Forever announces 21 member Community Advisory Committee, land exchange

The committee was created to give feedback and help shape the new city's proposal which will eventually be on the ballot along with a vote on exchanging land.

SOLANO COUNTY, Calif — Flannery Associates, the company who purchased tens of thousands of acres of land in Solano County, announced its 21 member advisory committee made up of community members Wednesday.

The list, found on the California Forever website, includes members like Solano County Sheriff Tom Ferrara, President and CEO of Visit Fairfield Anand Patel and Travis Armed Forces Committee Executive Board member Erick Fierro among others.

The committee was created to use their "broad and diverse" backgrounds to give feedback and help shape the California Forever proposal which eventually will be voted on, according to California Forever.

California Forever says its hoping to announce city plans in Jan. 2024 and get it on the Nov. 2024 ballot.

The committee has met twice already and will continue to on a weekly basis, according to the website.

The announcement comes just a day after Jan Sramek, the CEO and founder of California Forever, announced they're proposing a land exchange to "protect Travis Air Force Base, create a 15,000-acre contiguous preserve on the Jepson Prairie and fund the completion of the Solano County Habitat Conservation Plan."

If approved as currently written, the land California Forever would acquire is 1,403 acres from public agencies in exchange for 1,573 acres they already own.

While the proposal was announced Tuesday, it would have to be approved by voters via a separate ballot measure from approving city plans in Nov. 2024 to actually go through. Read the entire proposal HERE

Both announcements were made days before California Forever is set to attend the Solano County Water Agency meeting Thursday where a water supply portfolio will be presented for review. Water rights are one of the most hot button topics in relation to the proposed city in rural Solano County, something the Rio Vista City Council already rejected.

ABC10 will be at the Solano County Water Agency meeting Thursday which will start at 6:30 p.m. at 810 Vaca Valley Parkway, Suite 203.
