Cal Fire: This is just the beginning of wildfire season

The Park Fire is the fourth largest wildfire in California's history.

CALIFORNIA, USA — Multiple wildfires continue to burn in Northern California, and Cal Fire says this is just the beginning of wildfire season.

The historic Park Fire in Butte and Tehama counties is the fourth largest in the state’s history, pulling resources from across the state.

Dave Lauchner, with Cal Fire, is currently on the Crozier Fire in El Dorado County and spoke to ABC10 about the department’s resources.

“Cal Fire does a really good job of sharing resources, making sure the appropriate resources get allocated to the fire in the most need and the appropriate resources get sent there. Also the teams that are on those fires make sure that if they have resources can be spared, they do share them with each other,” Lauchner said.

Lauchner was happy with the minimal growth of the Crozier Fire but said crews are waiting for additional resources and are not looking to scale back just yet.

“We had a really good night. Fire crews were able to get some really good work done last night. We got some containment lines put in. The fire actually cooperated for once. One of our biggest problems has been the fire has been jumping our lines, and last night, we had a lot of success and that did not happen,” Lauchner said.

Meanwhile, Cal Fire is making progress in the region.

The Silver Fire, also in El Dorado County, is 95% contained.

On Saturday night, Cal Fire announced the Blue Fire in Solano County is 100% contained. But Cal Fire knows this is just the beginning.

“Fatigue is definitely effecting people. We’ve seen it over the last few years with the really active fire seasons, and we are not done with this one. Firefighters signed up, they know what they’re getting into, they are all ready to go and they are ready for a few more months of this,” Lauchner said.
