1 killed in suspected DUI, single-car crash in Solano County area

The driver suffered fatal injuries after the vehicle left the roadway and overturned, CHP said. They were not carrying any passengers.

SOLANO COUNTY, Calif. — A person is dead after a suspected solo-vehicle DUI accident early Sunday morning in the area of Solano County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Around 3:20 a.m., a vehicle was traveling east along Highway 12 from Napa toward eastbound Interstate 80 when it left the roadway and overturned, according to the CHP.

The vehicle’s driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. They were not carrying any passengers.

CHP said the crash is under investigation, but speed and alcohol are considered factors.

“We would like to take a moment to emphasize the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs,” CHP Solano wrote in its news release. “Driving under the influence (impairs) judgment and reduces perception/reaction times. It also significantly increases the risk of being involved in accidents.”

Officers said they ask the public to designate a sober driver, wear their seat belts and slow down.
