Fire at nut storage building near Ripon is still active 24 hours later

The fire sparked Sunday night near the intersection of Highway 120 and French Camp Road.

RIPON, Calif. — Crews said the scene of a fire at a nut processing site is still active after sparking late Sunday night.

According to the Ripon Consolidated Fire District, the fire sparked at a nut storage facility near the intersection of Highway 120 and French Camp Road.

Officials said the fire caused oil from the burning materials to spread across the property and intermittently ignite fire. Crews are addressing any flare-ups as they come across them.

However, due to the risk of dry grass catching fire, crews are taking advantage of what they can in the area, even using the building's sprinklers to their advantage.

"Our primary objective is to bring the incident under control, ensuring the safety of the surrounding area so that the facility's owner can begin the process of managing the aftermath and recovery," Ripon Consolidate Fire said on Facebook.
