SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Caltrans says a driver is dead after a tanker truck lost control, hit a tree and caught fire near I-80 and Drum Forebay Road.
Officials say the crash happened around 5:30 a.m. Saturday. The cabin of the truck caught fire. Caltrans says those first on the scene were not able to get the driver out in time to save them. They add the tanker was empty and the fire did not spread.
Roadways have since reopened.
