SACRAMENTO, Calif. — UPDATE: Oct. 30, 4:00 p.m.
PG&E announced Wednesday afternoon that now 168,500 customers are without power.
The company said in a press release that they restored power to roughly 196,500 customers since Oct. 29.
In the press release, the company also said northern Kern County was in the beginning stages of getting their power back on.

PG&E estimated Wednesday afternoon that around 516,000 customers are without power because of the company's fire-prevention power shutoffs that started Tuesday morning.
While 22 counties are currently without power, PG&E said they are actively working to restore power to all counties involved, except Kern County, which should begin the same process of restoration Thursday, Oct. 31.
Early Wednesday morning, PG&E decided to cancel the planned fire-prevention shutoffs in Alameda, Contra Costa, Humboldt, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Mateo and Siskiyou Counties.

- Yellow = Power was turned off Oct. 29 at 8 a.m. for El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sierra and Yuba Counties.
- Green = Power was turned off Oct. 29 at 4 p.m. for Alpine, Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties.
- Blue = Power was to be turned off Oct. 29 at 9 p.m. for Kern County.
- Black = Expected areas without power
- Flames = Fires that are currently burning

PG&E said they are turning off the power to roughly 597,000 customers.
Many of the people that are to be without power in the shutoff that began Oct. 29 briefly had their power restored from the previous shutoff, which started Oct. 26.
PG&E has been turning off the power for around 32 counties since 4 a.m.
Mark Quinlan, a spokesperson for PG&E, said on Tuesday that people in Butte, Plumas, Tehama, Trinity and Shasta Counties, are in the beginning stages of getting their power turned back on. Quinlan did not give a definitive time as to when PG&E will turn the power back on.
