KNEELAND, Calif. — A plane crashed in Humboldt County and started a vegetation fire Tuesday morning, according to officials.
The FAA says the single-engine Cessna 206 took off from Sacramento McClellan Airport and crashed near Kneeland Airport around 11:30 a.m. Two people were on board but their conditions are unknown.
The crash caused a fire in the area, according to Cal Fire.
“We have contacted the FAA and NTSB, we are staying in close communication with them and we expect resources from those two entities and to be here later on and we will continue to work with them on the investigation with them and we will do anything we can to assist," said JD Braud, Humboldt County Sheriff's Office Undersheriff.
An investigation is ongoing and no other information is available at this time.
