After 60 years, the Ferris Wheel at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is being retired.

According to a Facebook post by the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the Ferris Wheel took its final spin last fall before undergoing winter maintenance. According to ABC30 in Fresno, it was during that time that the park decided not to bring back the ride.

"Our Ferris Wheel had more than 4 million riders since 1986 alone," the Facebook post reads. The park didn't keep track of ridership prior to 1986. "That's a lot of memories!"

The boardwalk is looking at replacing the ride. When someone asked if the boardwalk plans to sell the Ferris Wheel seats, they responded that they will, "let people know here on Facebook if we decide to sell the seats."
