California's first legal weed festival proves to be big marketing tool for emerging industry

The event was attended by dozens of cannabis businesses who were offering low cost product testers.

The Sacramento High Times Cannabis Cup brought thousands of marijuana enthusiasts to California’s first ever legal weed festival.

Daniel Guyton with Artisan Canna Cigar’s showed off the $200 joint-cigar meant to last an hour and a half when split between four people.

Guyton says his booth will sell between 150 and 200 cigars at the two-day festival.

While the event drew many marijuana lovers, it was also an opportunity for businesses to market their products, labels, and network.

The event was attended by dozens of cannabis businesses who were offering low cost product testers.

Rob Draper with Hollywood High Grade, which won a first place award at the event, says the recognition is something they’ll likely put on their label.

“I think people know that we’re serious players in the industry,” Draper said. “And we expect to see people come back for more.”

The High Times Festival will move on to Santa Rosa on June 2 and 3.
