UPDATE: 3 p.m.

Authorities in Northern California say all people reported missing in a massive wildfire have been located.

Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko said officials received 60 reports of missing people and that all had been located by Wednesday.

The blaze near the city of Redding, California has destroyed more than 1,000 homes and killed two firefighters and four civilians.

California fire officials say the wildfire burning near Redding for 10 days has scorched 180 square miles (470 square kilometers).

Fire crew have gained some ground and increased containment to 35 percent.

UPDATE: 9:55 a.m.

There is only one person still reported missing from the Carr Fire in Redding, according to family and police officials.

Richard Bigby, 88, was found safe at a nearby hotel after the owners checked their roster again.

Law enforcement agencies say they are still compiling the list, but it appears only Bruce Brown is still missing, according to a Shasta County Sheriff's official.

_______________

On Tuesday afternoon, Shasta County Sheriff’s Department and Redding Police released a list of 20 missing persons due to the Carr Fire. By Tuesday evening, 17 of those people had been found.

Three people remain missing, including 88-year-old Richard Bigby of Redding. Bigby’s son, Steven, last heard from him on Thursday afternoon. Steven was trying to convince him to evacuate with his dogs.

Steven lives in Texas and Bigby’s granddaughter, Jessica Tegestrand, is the only relative living in Redding.

“Thursday night was just crazy,” said Tegestrand. “Everyone was going in so many different directions.”

Tegestrand said her grandfather is an introverted lover of animals and the outdoors. She said their family hopes he was just enjoying some alone time until the fire was over.

Worried neighbors, escorted by CHP offices, checked on Bigby’s home Thursday afternoon. His car and dogs were gone, so his family finds some relief in knowing that he did evacuate his home.

The other people still missing are Bruce Brown of Old Shasta and Glenda Pursa of Redding. Juston Jones of Redding was found Tuesday evening, according to his sister.

Anyone with information on the missing persons should contact the Carr Fire Missing Persons Hotline at 530-225-4277.
