Piece of metal flew into SUV windshield on Highway 99

A scary moment happened earlier this week on Highway 99 when a piece of metal fell off a vehicle and through a car windshield.

CERES, Calif. — A driver on Highway 99 had a big scare earlier this week when a piece of metal fell off a vehicle and into the driver's windshield.

On Oct. 2 around 2 p.m.,Ceres and Modesto Fire Departments had gone to the area to find a big rig and SUV on the shoulder of southbound Highway 99 near Pine/Park overpass.

They found that a large piece of metal had went through the windshield of the SUV as it was going down the highway.

Ceres Fire Department said on their Facebook page that the the metal was stopped by the steering wheel before it was able to injure the occupants.

A Ceres Fire Department spokesperson was not immediately available to provide additional details on the incident.
