CERES, Calif. — Three people were arrested, two others hospitalized and 86 dogs rescued after Ceres officers responded to a welfare check Tuesday morning.

According to the Ceres Police Department, officers were called around 8:30 a.m. for a welfare check on the 1900 block of Hollister Street.

Officers spoke with some of the home’s occupants – a girl and an elderly woman – and determined they were in ‘unlivable conditions.’ They also found several dozen dogs in the home.

Multiple agencies responded and the 86 dogs were removed and taken for medical treatment.

The girl was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation and put into Stanislaus County Child Protective Services (CPS) custody.

The elderly woman was also taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation and helped by Stanislaus County Adult Protective Services (APS).

Three people were arrested: 43-year-old Lissette Stdenis, 43-year-old Seth Badal and 22-year-old Freddy Vasquez. They are all accused of child abuse, elder abuse and animal cruelty.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
