AUBURN, Calif. — A California Highway Patrol motor officer was hurt in a crash in Auburn Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened sometime after 2 p.m. at Nevada Street and Placer Street while the officer was taking the off-ramp from Interstate 80. CHP Captain Andrew McCulloch said the officer was hit by a Dodge Ram pickup truck and ejected from his motorcycle.
He said the passenger of the pickup check on the officer and then used his radio to call for medical help.
A CHP helicopter responded, landing on westbound I-80 and taking the officer to a hospital.
Police said the officer had a complaint of pain and is getting a medical evaluation. Capt. McCulloch said the officer had a good prognosis.
Officers are still trying to figure out what led up to the crash.
